The Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s year started with ‘Megxit’ and has been a chaotic ride ever since. Now a source tells New Idea that all the recent rapid changes have caused a strain on Meghan and Harry’s relationship, culminating in a festive season blowout.

“Apparently one night it got so bad that Meghan took one of their SUVs and drove off – at least that’s the latest scuttlebutt among the ‘help’ community in Santa Barbara,” reveals the source.

The reason behind the latest argument harks back to the former royals’ need to be financially independent. Since leaving the royal family fold, Meghan, 39, has been making big business moves – orchestrating PR stunts and making key financial decisions – often allegedly without consulting Prince Harry or their team.

“Meghan’s been forging ahead with all sorts of money-making plans and barely consults her own PR team, let alone her husband, who has to weather the storm of public controversy and private consternation from his family every time she goes public with one of her schemes,” the source adds.
