A NEW TV SERIES DELVES INTO THE BILL CLINTON SCANDAL LIKE NEVER BEFORE

In 1998, it was hard to find a newspaper or TV broadcast around the world that didn’t feature then US President, Bill Clinton, insisting he “did not have sexual relations with that woman, Ms Lewinsky”.

It’s a quote that now lives in infamy via court documents, history books and pop culture, given that it was later proven that he did, in fact, have an affair with his then 22-year-old intern, Monica Lewinsky. This led to his impeachment for perjury to a grand jury and obstruction of justice.

Monica – and her blue dress stained by Bill’s semen that was used as evidence against the Democratic leader – has never left the global lexicon. Now, she’s been given the chance to tell her story, her way and on her terms.

Ryan Murphy – often described by industry insiders as “the most powerful man in TV”, who created Glee and American Horror Story – has chosen the Clinton-Lewinsky affair as the focus of Season 3 of his American Crime Story anthology.

He’s been toying with the idea for almost five years, and it wasn’t until he ran into Monica at a party that he decided to push ahead.
