A FED UP DUKE OF CAMBRIDGE LAYS DOWN THE LAW

When Prince Harry and Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, announced their new multiyear podcast deal with Spotify, it sent a collective shudder through the palace back in London.

Despite the couple promising to use their platform to champion causes and charities close to their hearts, senior royals are “deeply suspicious” of their motives – especially since it’s reported that Spotify is coughing up an eye-watering $48 million per year.

“Word is Meghan wowed Spotify with her pitch and made it impossible for them to resist her,” tells our insider. “Which leads us to think there is a lot more to this deal than Meghan and Harry are letting on.

“The fear is they’ve agreed to speak about what really goes on behind palace walls, and their version of the truth about why they left.”

As New Idea went to press last week, Meghan and Harry’s Archewell Audio podcast made its debut. It featured 33 minutes of most celebrities, including Elton John and James Corden, talking about how the pandemic had affected them – followed by their son, Archie, 1, adorably wishing listeners a “Happy New Year” in a babyish American accent.
