Held last 16 November at Shangri-La at the Fort’s Grand Ballroom, which has been home to this elegant and altruistic affair for the past three years now, the Philippine Tatler 18th anniversary ball was truly one for the books.
Arriving in their red-carpet regalia and finery, over 500 guests schmoozed and sipped on cocktails before parading through an 80-foot long dressed-up “tunnel” leading to the beautifully bedecked ballroom.
Evoking a hallway or a gallery of a French home, the celadon-hued molded panels featured antique wall sconces and framed partner logos, curated in varying sizes and Mondrian-type positioning. A lush canopy of foliage overhead, crafted by Bloomwoods’ Mia Cabawatan-Lozada, added a touch of green, creating beautiful shadow play once lit from the top.
Inside the ballroom, Managing Director Irene Martel Francisco welcomed her distinguished guests to the sophisticated soirée, a celebration of thanksgiving that she has thoroughly enjoyed orchestrating every year. She sentimentally joked in her welcome address, “We are finally of age!”
Martel Francisco expressed her deep appreciation for the unwavering support of Tatler’s advertisers and partners. Thanking them from the bottom of her heart, she warmly acknowledged the ball’s lead partners: Mercedes-Benz, represented by Felix Ang, a supporter of Tatler since day one, and Rick Santos of global real estate expert Santos Knight Frank; as well as supporting partners Bulgari, HSBC Premier, and Subic International Golf Club.
“I want to express my deepest gratitude to you. Your patronage and support allow us to celebrate another anniversary of Philippine Tatler… this one is our biggest to date!” she effused.
