R Madhavan has always been different and likes to live life by his own terms. Marrying while being on top of his game, for instance, and making no bones about it. Former tele-star Madhavan has become an icon in the south. Maniratnam’s new protege is Chennai’s current fad. The craze he generates in the south is being compared to the kind Hrithik Roshan did with his first movie. Madhavan, whom college going teenagers refer to as ‘Maddy’, is truly happening.

Madhavan is a social person—thoroughly snazzy and suave. He loves partying and socialising, and again, unlike other Tamil heroes, he is the first one to model for national commercials. He is a Tamilian married to a Maharashtrian, and flips through life without being hassled by traditional constrictions.
