Do you have a game dish you’re just dying to show off? Or do you dream of becoming a professional chef? Teflon’s competition could be your chance to shine…
As field sports enthusiasts, one of the best elements of the sport we love is bringing home the fruits of our labour ‘for the pot’. Be it a simple pan-fried pigeon breast or a sumptuous venison stew, cooking with game is a highlight for many shooters, with the added bonus of knowing that the delicious lean meat is also incredibly healthy.
Game meat is now commonplace on pub and restaurant menus up and down the country and even appears on some supermarket shelves now too. And this year, organisers of the Teflon Diamond Standards Awards cookery competition have includ d game dish as part of the competition.
The competition is aimed at keen home cooks, young cooks and aspiring student chefs, offering the chance for nonprofessional cooks to ga recognition for their cooking ability at home and, for those attending catering college, the opportunity to showcase what they’ve learnt.
The organisers, Dupree Creative, put forward the idea of a game dish element because they felt game offered a healthy and tasty option, and head judge of the event, celebrity chef Lesley Waters, agreed.
