Henric Sturehed is grateful for the helping hand up to the European Tour
A runaway victory in the MENA Tour Championship last October earmarked Henric Sturehed as a name to watch, something the Swede underlined by earning graduation to the European Tour via Q-School weeks later.
The six months following his memorable nine-stroke victory at Al Zorah in Ajman – save for the T-18 finish at Q-School – didn’t exactly go to plan, seven straight missed cuts (including Dubai, Oman and Qatar) culminating in further frustration at the Challenge Tour’s Kenyan Open in late March where he had another unwanted weekend off.
But the 27-year-old clearly has game bursting to get out as his T-5 performance at the Open de España in April illustrated, Sturehed standing up to the pressure of playing alongside home favourite and eventual champion Jon Rahm in the penultimate group at Centro Nacional de Golf on Sunday to collect €49,650 (US$58,000), the biggest payday of his career.

AMATEURS OFTEN STAND OVER THE BALL with their feet too wide apart. I understand the appeal—they want to feel more stable throughout the swing, and a wider stance seems a logical way to achieve that.
