A Car Crash Saved My Life

After a hit-and-run, Tania received a life-saving diagnosis

My heart froze as I spotted the car speeding along the crossroads toward us.

She’s not going to stop, I thought, panic surging.

I was already driving past the crossroads with no chance of getting out of the way.

I braced myself as the vehicle collided with the back of my car with a loud bang.

I’d just picked up my daughter Siena, 12, from school, and the impact threw us forward. 

As our car spun to a stop, Siena was my first concern.

‘Are you OK?’ I gasped.

She nodded, but burst into tears, both of us in shock.

I comforted Siena, then climbed out to inspect the extent of the damage and to get the driver’s details.

Only, suddenly, the woman behind the wheel of the other car drove off! Fury zipped through me.

‘How dare she?’ I raged.

A write-off

It was March 2016, and although it hadn’t been an horrific smash, I’d had my youngest daughter with me, and our car was a write-off.
