Hall: I Still Love This Game

DeAngelo Hall played in the Washington Redskins’ 1714 win over the Seattle Seahawks, his first game action since suffering a torn ACL 14 months earlier. Not just playing, but starting at free safety. Not just starting, but taking every defensive snap.

“He came out and gave us every ounce,” cornerback Bashaud Breeland said. “He didn’t take any plays off.”

Not just taking every defensive snap, but playing at a high level. Pro Football Focus graded Hall as the top Redskin in what may eventually be considered a season-saving win.

“There is probably nobody I would rather have back there at the end of a game on a Hail Mary than D Hall,” said Redskins coach Jay Gruden shortly after the thrilling road win. “He has got great ball skills. He has a knack of being around the ball…It’s great to have his leadership back there.”

Speaking with reporters in the Redskins locker room three days after his return, Hall tried downplaying his performance, but he couldn’t help grin when including the full context.
