From Halifax to Hollywood Edward Christopher Sheeran was born in February 1991 in Halifax, England. His parents, both working for an art consultancy at the time, also had an older son. Constantly being surrounded by art and creatives, Sheeran took an interest in music at a very young age, joining the church choir at the tender age of 4. Soon enough he would start learning the guitar and at the age of 11 was already writing his own songs. Yet his music was an escape for the young boy as he was bullied constantly at school, mainly for his stutter and oversized glasses. Sheeran also had a perforated eardrum, which he did not have replaced until he was 11. He was born with a large birthmark on his face that was removed later on by laser surgery. He also dealt with a detached retina, which often gave him the lazy eye effect. Sheeran also suffered from nerve damage as a child during an operation which led to a stutter. His stutter was eventually cured by therapy. Sadly these health issues made him a target at school. Whenever he tried speaking up in class, his mouth would freeze and no words would come out. Other kids were mocking him about this. Soon, he stopped participating and raising his hand at all. Yet these young setbacks would allow the young Sheeran to focus his energies on his music, the one place he felt comfortable. He enjoyed singing in the local church and playing the guitar in his room as this was the only time he felt in control. Naturally, the stigma of being a ginger also didn&#39;t help matters, and Sheeran soon realized that ginger men were generally not seen as attractive, and taking action was the only way forward. However, a 14-year-old Sheeran was frustrated with the lack of further exposure and made the drastic decision to move to London to pursue what he felt was his destiny.
