Airporter Services No Longer Accepting Smart Passes 'Disappointing'
CALLS have been made to reverse a decision pre-venting pensioners from using their SmartPasses on all Airporter services.
Individuals aged 60 years and above, living in Northern Ireland are eligible to apply for a SmartPass to avail of concessionary travel on bus and rail services operated by Translink and other operators.
Before January 1, SmartPass holders were able to travel for free on all Airporter services.
However as from January 1 this year, the Airporter is no longer part of the concessionary fare scheme, meaning that SmartPasses are no longer accepted.
Two pensioners from the Dungiven area contacted the County Derry Post to express their disappointment to the changes to the scheme.
One Dungiven woman, who preferred not to be identified, described Airporter’s new policy as ‘unfair’.
