OVERNIGHT weekend works as part of the ongoing Castledawson dualling scheme has led to an outpouring of complaints from local residents over noise disruption.
To facilitate the construction of the A6 upgrade, weekend works with a full road closure have been scheduled to take place over a number of weekends from January 26 to March 12.
However contractors have warned that there will be additional dates for weekend works which have not yet been confirmed.
During weekend works, contractors are onsite working around the clock from 10pm on the Friday night to 6am on the Monday morning.
But noise and light from ongoing works is causing disturbance to those living in nearby homes, preventing some from sleeping.
One resident who spoke to The County Derry Post said that over the past three weekends, the noise has meant it has been ‘impossible to sleep.’
The man, who preferred not to be identified, said: “There could be between nine and ten dumper trucks working onsite at any given time. They are driving up and down past our house steady so there is a lot of noise. The work continues right throughout the night, which makes it almost impossible to sleep.
