Left-back gives the Terriers real bite

Poor morale. Scant funds. A patchy squad full of underperforming high-earners. But in Harry Toffolo, the 37-year-old inherited a player who would become the cornerstone of his rapidly improving team.

Corberan was a devotee of the Marcelo Bielsa method long before he worked under the Argentine at Leeds.

The Terriers were always destined to follow a blueprint heavily reliant on exceptionally fit full-backs, whose remit is to stretch opponents, press aggressively and contribute in the final third. Toffolo – signed by previous manager Danny Cowley – fitted the job description to a tee.

In 18 months at Lincoln City, Toffolo played every minute of every game. Since joining Huddersfield in January, the left-back hasn’t once failed to make the starting line-up.

Set against the backdrop of a compacted fixture list where fatigue is rarely far from the headlines, it is a remarkable display of durability made all the more impressive by the consistency of his displays.
