Aa a Boyhood Arsenal fan in Australia, Ryan Williams could never have imagined he would one day get the chance to play against them – but now he’s aiming to knock the Gunners out of the FA Cup.
The 26-year-old Portsmouth winger is praying that boss Kenny Jackett gives him the nod for tomorrow night’s mouthwatering FA Cup fifth-round tie at Fratton Park.
It would be the first time in his career that he’s had the chance to take on his favourites.
“I’ve been an Arsenal fan ever since I can remember,” said the Australian international. “It’s through my mum Audrey and her side of the family. She moved over from India when she was two and grew up in the Highbury area of north London.
Family ties
“My uncles were born in north London and they’re Arsenal fans as well. It runs in the family.”
