Will Nketiah Get Elbow?

Marcelo Bielsa could be robbed of striker Eddie Nketiah for three games after the young striker elbowed Sheffield Wednesday midfielder Joey Pelupessy.

The on-loan Arsenal forward, on as a half-time substitute for Patrick Bamford, was involved in a tussle on the byline when the Dutchman collapsed clutching his face.

Although missed by referee Tim Robinson, the incident was caught on camera and is sure to be studied by the FA tomorrow.

That could see Nketiah – who scored against Preston in midweek – slapped with a violent conduct charge just as he was working his way into Bielsa’s plans. “Leeds had so many people in the technical area that I couldn’t see up the line,” said Wednesday boss Garry Monk. “But I’ve since been told it was an elbow, and a nasty one.”

Monk, of course, spent a season in charge at Elland Road and has since proved something of a nemesis for his old club.

Although beaten on his first return to Yorkshire with Middlesbrough, he won both home and away as manager of Birmingham City last season and has now taken seven points from a possible nine against his former employers.
