Dean Quits In A Storm At Stones!

Dean Brennan says he holds no bitterness towards Wealdstone after sensationally quitting as manager having fallen out with trusted assistant Stuart Maynard and chairman Rory Fitzgerald.

The Stones were left stunned when the 40-year-old walked out of Grosvenor Vale on Tuesday afternoon with the club six points above the drop and holding two games in hand.

Brennan led Wealdstone back into the top-flight of Non-League football for the first time in 33 years by winning the National League South title last term – and their impressive start this season attracted attention.

Before Christmas, managerless Barnet made an approach for Brennan following Peter Beadle’s exit, but he promptly turned them down in order to stay loyal to the Middlesex part-timers.

Brennan claims the Stones board had verbally agreed to give him a new and improved contract at that time, although neither parties rushed into producing any paperwork.
