With sponsors feeling the effects of Covid-19, the Portsmouth-based club took the painful decision to seek voluntary relegation from the Southern League.
A one-division drop to the Wessex Premier was the end result, which has eased the financial pressure. More significantly, the Moneys have linked up with Portsmouth Football in the Community for a £5m development of their Moneyfields Sports Ground home.
The new-look sports complex is set to include a 1,180-capacity stadium, two all-weather pitches, boxing gym, dance studio and social club across the six-acre site.
Seiden, who held a number of roles at the club before stepping up to become chairman a couple of years ago, told The NLP: “We have sold the ground to Portsmouth in the Community because they needed to own it to invest in it, but they have granted us a lifetime lease to groundshare for free and that’s all we wanted – it means we are secure.
“The build work has just started and there will be a bit of upheaval, but we can still play there for 18 months while the work is going on.
