Cooney Gives Quins Late Kick In The Teeth

Fijian lock Tevita Cavubati’s crucial loss of discipline with just over a minute remaining of a pulsating contest cost the visitors dear as John Cooney kicked the winning penalty to keep Ulster unbeaten and top of Pool 3.

Cavubati raced from the Quins defensive line to make an off-the-ball tackle on Cooney. Referee Mike Adamson awarded the penalty and the Ulster scrum-half kept his cool to steal the points.

Ulster have still not been beaten at home all year while Quins now need to win all their remaining three games, starting with the return clash at the Stoop on Friday night, to have the slightest chance of progressing.
