The move of the demonetisation of 500/ and 1000/- rupee notes has now brought an unusual turn in Indian politics.

Demonetisation and Modi-Mamata Tussle

While the people of the country seem to be supporting this initiative of the government at the centre to control the black money, some political parties are viewing this move of Prime Minister Narendra Modi as a complete political and dictatorial agenda to harass large section of the society and to benefit a few.

Mamata Banerjee took the centrestage to protest demonetisation by the government to grab the opportunity to play a decisive role in national politics, though started with cold response when her party is being supported only by parties like Aam Aadmi Party and Shiv Sena in her first public rally in Delhi, but gradually her cause and sentiment to capture the heart of the common man got wind and the support of major political parties started to pour in.

In her protest along with major political parties including Congress in Delhi, Mamata vowed not to stop till she oust Prime Minister Narendra Modi from Indian politics. Later on, in a protest rally in Kolkata she repeated her mission: “Today, I am taking a pledge, whether I die or live I will remove PM Modi from Indian politics.”

BJP immediately reacted against the West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s comment to remove Prime Minister Narendra Modi from Indian politics and said she has clearly lost her mental balance post-demonetisation.
