Police on Thursday arrested former Andaman and Nicobar chief secretary, Jitendra Narain, in a gang-rape case filed by a 21-year-old woman against him and others after his anticipatory bail plea was rejected by a Port Blair court. Narain claimed he was the victim of a conspiracy. He was arrested from a private resort where he was staying. An SIT, which quizzed him thrice, was set up to probe allegations that the woman was lured to the chief secretary’s home on promise of a job and raped by officials, including him.
