Women’s health workout
From workouts designed to work with your menstrual cycle to classes designed for perimenopause and menopause, women-specific fitness is set to boom this year.
“Our hormones are in a constant state of flux, and knowing where we’re at in our monthly cycle, or in our time of life, is key to getting the most out of any wellness or exercise plan,” says Maja Milicevic, holistic health coach (@thehormone collective).
Visit puregym.com which has a handy online tool to reveal which workouts are best for menopausal symptoms.
On your bike
As a result of the cost-of-living crisis driving up fuel prices, bike sales are up 69 per cent, says Go Outdoors.
“The one-off cost of a bicycle is significantly less than that of a car or motorbike, with the average cost of an entry-level bicycle between £200 to £350. This will get you a quality bike that will last, with minimal maintenance,” says Chris Pengilley, cycling expert for Quella Bicycle (quellabicycle.com).
In addition, many workplaces offer a Cycle to Work scheme as an employee benefit.
“Cycling is an excellent way to get 30 minutes (or more) of exercise every day,” says Chris.
“It’s one of the most environmentally friendly methods of transport too.”
Exercise as movement
Reframing exercise as movement is a powerful trend that aims to change people’s perception of exercise, challenging the idea that it is difficult or punishing and instead seeing it for what it is – moving your body.
