ERIK TEN HAG believes Chelsea have provided the perfect demonstration of how massive investment without a clear strategy can blow up in your face.
Blues owner Todd Boehly spent £600million in the transfer market since buying the club in May last year, sacked two permanent managers and was rewarded with a mid-table finish.
And with a takeover at Manchester United seemingly imminent, Ten Hag believes the west London club provide a timely lesson in how money is not always the answer.
Asked if Chelsea have shown the pitfalls of transition to new owners, Ten Hag (above) replied: "Absolutely, yes. You have to do the right things, you can have money but you have to do it and spend it in a smart way. You need to have a strategy behind it, otherwise the money doesn't work."
