A SCOTS student has told of the terrifying moment he was trampled by rhinos in South Africa.

Kieran Munns, 21, was doing conservation work on a wildlife reserve when one of the huge beasts charged at him on Wednesday.

He was then stomped on by the black rhino’s calf but was lucky to suffer only head and hip knocks.

Speaking from his hospital bed, Kieran said: “Unfortunately the encounter turned ugly due to uncontrollable circumstances and I was injured.

“But nothing more than a bang to the head from falling and my hip getting injured by being stepped on by a young calf which was with the mother black rhino.”

I look forward to seeing rhinos.. just not as close KIERAN MUNNS GAME RANGER STUDENT

Kieran, whose family are from Livingston, has been studying in the country for two years at Bhejane Nature Training and had joined a special team protecting rhinos.
