FRANKIE DETTORI might be one the oldest swingers in the weighing room but he again showed he remains the undisputed master, after partnering Lord North to victory in the Dubai Turf at Meydan.

Dettori might be 50, but he judged the race to perfection when giving Lord North his head two furlongs from home.

“I love it – coming back to where I started all those years ago,” said Dettori.

“There have been 25 years of the World Cup and I think I’ve been at most of them – and they have brought some tremendous memories.

“Long may it continue.”

Lord North’s victory was also another masterclass from the recently formed training team of father and son John and Thady Gosden.
