HOLIDAYS to France are expected to be back on by the weekend almost a month after Paris slammed its border shut to British tourists.
The decision, set to be announced later today, will save the rest of the French ski season which has been blighted by the dearth of British visitors. Hopes have been rising for several days that France — British holidaymakers’ second most popular foreign destination — would be open again imminently.
They were bolstered last night when Alexandre Holroyd, the French MP responsible for Britain’s expat community, confirmed in a tweet that the border closure would end “very soon”.
The French council of ministers — its equivalent of the Cabinet — was due to meet this morning when the decision would have to be ratified.
