Larry Visoski, who flew Epstein around the world for more than 25 years, was the first witness to take the stand in the Manhattan courtroom.
Quizzed by assistant US attorney Maurene Comey, Mr Visoski identified Maxwell in the dock and described her relationship to Epstein as “more personal than business”.
He was asked by Ms Comey how long their “romantic” relationship lasted.
Mr Visoski said it went on into the 2000s and added: “I wouldn’t even characterise it as romantic, but more couplish than anything else. I don’t think I ever witnessed them kiss or hold hands kind of thing.”
Mr Visoski said he had been hired in 1991 and had flown Epstein around roughly “every four days”.
Epstein died in jail in 2019 while awaiting trial on sex abuse charges.
