SHARJAH
Thousands of children and their parents attended the first day of the 12th edition of the Sharjah Children’s Reading Festival (SCRF). The festival was inaugurated by His Highness Dr Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah on Wednesday.
The much-anticipated festival grabbing the attention of scores of young children as well as adults being organised by Sharjah Book Authority (SBA), and themed ‘For Your Imagination’, the 12th edition of the region’s largest festival of its kind, will run till May 29 at Sharjah Expo Centre.
The opening ceremony was attended by Sheikh Nahyan Bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence; Sheikh Sultan Bin Ahmed Al Qasimi, Chairman of Sharjah Media Council (SMC); Sheikha Bodour Bint Sultan Al Qasimi, President of International Publishers Association (IPA); Sheikh Salem Bin Abdulrahman Al Qasimi, Head of Executive Office of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah; Abdul Rahman Bin Mohammed Al Owais, Minister of Health and Prevention; Jameela Bint Salem Al Muhairi, Minister of State for Public Education, as well as members of the Sharjah Executive Council (SEC), directors of local government entities, senior officials, and renowned authors.
