UAE National Disinfection Programme to continue

One death, 241 new cases reported in UAE; 3 centres for virus test to open in Dubai; move to postpone Expo 2020; world’s toll tops 60,000; UK fatalities climb by new high of 708; newborn twins named Corona and Covid; US lost nearly 1,500 lives in a day.

The Ministry of Health Prevention (MoHAP) and the Ministry of Interior (MoI) have announced the continuation of the “National Disinfection Programme,” as part of the preventive and precautionary measures taken by the UAE to contain COVID-19.

The two ministries said that the sanitisation drive would continue to be carried out daily from 8:00pm until 6:00am the following morning, and restrictions on the movement of traffic and the public will continue during this period and resume as normal in day time.

The MoHAP and MoI said new facilities and establishments would be added to the disinfection plan in all emirates of the country. The programme will be subject to periodic assessment as per recommendations approved by the World Health Organisation and established international practices.

On Saturday, the UAE government has announced the detection of 241 new coronavirus cases among various nationalities, taking to 1,505 the number of infections in the country.

The UAE has also confirmed one more death case from the coronavirus for a 53-year-old Arab expat, bringing the country’s death toll to 10.
