The amount of UAE aid amounted to 1,292 tonnes of personal protective equipment, medical and food aid through 137 flights to 93 countries around the world, in light of the country’s efforts to contain the emerging coronavirus epidemic.
Recently, the UAE sent two aid planes to Lebanon carrying 42 tonnes of testing equipment and medical supplies to support medical staff and workers in the field of medical services, in addition to nutritional supplements for children and other essential materials.
The UAE also sent an aid plane to Turkmenistan carrying 60 tonnes of medical supplies and testing devices out of the 90 tonnes assigned to Turkmenistan to support the efforts of health workers and enhance their capabilities in facing the spread of the new coronavirus (Covid-19).
Two other planes carrying 21 tonnes of medical aid and 200,000 new corona testing devices were sent later.
A medical aid plane carrying 6 tonnes of urgent medical supplies was sent to Colombia, in addition to two other planes with 21 tonnes of supplies and 200,000 new corona screening devices sent during the past three months.
