At least one person has died in Greece after torrential rains hit the country, already ravaged for weeks by devastating wildfires, authorities said on Tuesday, as storms and floods battered the Mediterranean and an autumnal heatwave began searing northwest Europe.
Temperatures in the southeast of the UK could climb as high as 33°C over the next few days, according to the Met Office. That would fall short of the September record of 35.6°C, but could potentially reach the hottest this year. Overnight lows could also test the existing all-time high of 21.7°C.
Paris is forecast to remain at or above 30°C for the next seven days, according to Maxar Technologies Inc. The heat also spans Germany and Scandinavia.
