‘Release Garda's report on O Lubhlai'

VICTIMS of the man dubbed the ‘Irish Jimmy Savile’ have called for a Garda review on his decades of abuse to be released.

Author, teacher and gaelgoir Domhnall O Lubhlai is believed to have sexually abused up to 100 boys over two decades.

The founder of Irish college Colaiste na bhFiann – known as ‘Donal Lovely’ – forced pupils to share a bed on trips to the Gealtacht between 1971 and 1991.

In 2000, O Lubhlai, a one-time RTE presenter, was charged with 56 counts of indecent assault, buggery and attempted buggery on 11 children.

The case collapsed and he died in 2013 at his Mullingar home aged 84 – after the Garda file went missing.

A report investigating how this happened has never been released.
