Reliance Industries on Friday said Abu Dhabi state fund Mubadala Investment will buy a 1.85 per cent stake in Jio Platforms for Rs 9,093.60 crore, while private equity firm Silver Lake has raised its stake in the oil-to-telecoms conglomerate’s digital business to 2.08 per cent for an additional Rs 4,546.80 crore.
With the two latest developments, Jio Platforms has sold a total of 19.93 per cent stake for a whopping Rs 92,202.15 crore in a span of six weeks. Silver Lake had bought 1.15 per cent stake for Rs 5,665.75 crore on May 4.
It also marks the near-completion of Jio Platforms’ plan of getting strategic and financial investors to form 20 per cent of its investments as it prepares to become a significant digital player in the country.
