Weather Relief At Rain Dissipates As Cold Sets In

After a warm, dry autumn a Mediterranean thunderstorm broke across the Gaza Strip early yesterday. The rain washed away some of the grey rubble dust arising from airstrikes which clings to buildings in all neighbourhoods, and dispersed smoke and fire from the most recent bombings.

Since the conflict started, water consumption in Gaza has fallen by 90%, according to UN data, and many families rushed outside for respite.

"It cleared the smoke from the air and the sky was beautiful... today is a new day," Ghassan Abu Sitta, a Palestinian-British surgeon, tweeted on X.
