Exploring Luxury Hotel Of The Oceans

PLYMOUTH welcomed a new visitor to its shores last month as the Scenic Eclipse II, the sister ship of the world’s first discovery yacht, docked in the city for the first time.
Exploring Luxury Hotel Of The Oceans

The Scenic Eclipse II is a luxury cruise ship that combines innovative design and technology with unrivalled discovery.

The ship launched in April this year, setting sail from Lisbon, on its inaugural voyage and arrived in Plymouth on Sunday, September 24, bringing around 150 passengers and 136 crew members to the city. The passengers were greeted by a warm welcome from Plymouth’s volunteers, who provided information, maps and advice on what to do and where to go in the city.

The volunteers also gave them a fond farewell at the end of the day as the ship departed for France.

Glen Gardner, the cruise development manager for Destination Plymouth, said that the cruise ship visits were increasingly crucial for the city’s economy and tourism.

“We speak to our local businesses as well to find out how they’ve benefited from the additional footfall coming in. Many passengers are wealthy, so they come in, and they do spend,” he said.
