Relatives of deceased point finger at power failure, demand govt. intervention
The families of three patients who died at the Government Rajaji Hospital here on Tuesday have claimed that the deaths were caused by a power failure that resulted in the shutting down of ventilators. The hospital has rejected the accusation and has attributed the deaths to critical illness.
A preliminary report submitted by the hospital to the Health Secretary indicated that the ventilators had battery backup and were functioning, despite the power outage and the failure of generators.
The kin of the deceased demanded that the Tamil Nadu government should look into the alleged negligence on the part of the hospital.
