Burnley boss Sean Dyche has been making use of the coronavirus lockdown to enjoy some dad and lad time... and his tech-savvy teenage son has stepped up to become an unofficial member of the Clarets’ backroom staff.
Dyche is leaning heavily on 17-year-old Max to keep him in the loop about the latest developments in social media so he can contact players and stay on top of the daily business of being a Premier League manager.
Max, himself a promising scholar with Northampton Town, is also studying a sports coaching course at sixth-form college. He has become his father’s right-hand man during the Covid-19 crisis.
Dyche explained: “We are living in serious times – and that is the overriding thing on your mind when you wake up every morning.
“But I’ve still got a job to do and one thing I’ve learned in a very short time is how to stay in touch with people beyond text messages, WhatsApp and emails.
“I’ve learned a bit more about Zoom – using it to talk to the staff. It allows you to speak to more than one person on a call so that you can interact better.
