2021 ends on warmer note, Dec sees highest average min temp in 3 years

New Delhi: Delhi recorded a relatively warmer December in 2021. The mean minimum temperature was recorded at 8.1 degrees Celsius, the highest in the past three years, showed data of India Meteorological Department (IMD). In contrast, the average monthly minimum temperature was 7.1 degrees Celsius in 2020, 7.6 degrees Celsius in 2019 and 6.7 degrees Celsius in 2018.

Before this, the mean minimum temperature was higher in 2017 at 9.1 degrees Celsius. Met officials said the first half of the month saw temperatures mostly above normal range.

The city saw four cold wave days in the second half of the month. Seven cold wave days gripped the city in December 2020. However, the mean maximum temperature of the month was recorded at 22.4 degrees Celsius.
