Work Pals: People are inviting friends over for company while they work

Rachel Carlsen found spending hours staring at a screen while alone in her apartment to be depressing. She was venting to her best friend Lily Andrules when the duo had a Eureka moment. Andrules suggested that Carlsen come over to her larger apartment to work every day, she told The Washington Post.

Soon, Carlsen moved the contents of her desk into her car and moved her office set-up into her friend’s apartment. They work in separate rooms and drink tea in between meetings.

WFH has become a longer-term reality than many initially anticipated. Some offices have even taken the opportunity to make work permanently remote. This may work wonders for some, but others find themselves getting lonely and demotivated.
