LEARN ABOUT THIS FAIRLY COMMON BIRTH DEFECT AND ITS TREATMENT
Talipes

Many babies are born with few or no problems but for some, they may have a condition that needs treating soon after their birth. Luckily, most respond well to treatment. Find out about Talipes.

WHAT IS IT?

Talipes (Club Foot) is a deformity of the foot and ankle and can affect one or both feet. There’s a complex malalignment of the soft and bony structures of each part of the foot. Its medical name is Congenital Talipes Equina Varus (CTEV). Another condition, Positional Talipes Equina varus (PTEV) is a moulding issue of the foot; this causes no fixed deformity and the foot has full movement.

WHAT DOES IT LOOK LIKE?

The foot will be smaller, it may be bent inwards and the sole points backwards.

HOW LIKELY WILL MY BABY HAVE THIS CONDITION?
