A Gynaecologist's Guide To Acing Your Babymoon

The first ultrasound, first kicks, first everything will always hold a special place in your heart, in your pregnancy. But your babymoon is the last time you and hubby dearest will get to spend some quality time together before baby arrives. Your newborn will bring a ton of happiness in the house, but will also change life for you and your partner, in so many ways. So, before the storm (read: baby) arrives, it is important to take time off from your respective routines to bond and soak up the sun in a fabulous destination. Because let’s face it, mums, this is probably the last time in a long time for you to just ‘chill’!

IDEAL TIME TO TRAVEL

The ideal time for a babymoon is between 21-26 weeks of pregnancy. By then, you’ll be in the middle of your pregnancy, and the most important stage, which includes the development of the baby, is complete. The important tests and the anomaly scan is done too. At the same time, you’re used to the pregnancy symptoms (if any) and you’re not in a very advanced stage either, i.e. the third trimester, post 28 weeks. By then, your body is comfortable with the changes in pregnancy.
