The EOS R5 and R6 were Canon’s biggest announcements for 2020. Though these appeared at the time of a global pandemic and lockdown, both generated considerable interest among Canon enthusiasts and photography community as a whole. Here we have the EOS R6, the enthusiast camera among the two, on our test bench.
Design & Build Quality
The EOS R6 shares design features with its predecessors, the EOS R and EOS RP, however, it looks and feels much refined in terms of design, borrowing some features from its D-SLR siblings. The body feels sturdily constructed. Most Canon D-SLR users would find this intuitive, except for a few additional buttons. The LCD is fully articulated.
Key Features
The 20.1-megapixel Canon EOS R6 uses a full-frame (36 x 24 mm) CMOS sensor and incorporates a Canon RF mount. It accepts Canon RF lenses directly, while EF and EF-S lenses are supported via EF-EOS R adapter. The camera offers In-Body Image Stabilisation, which can be selected while using a non-IS lens. It provides up to 5 stops of shutter speed advantage with some lenses and up to 8 stops in some others, especially in combination with the lens IS.
