ViewSonic VX2768-2KP-MHD: Stellar Midrange Monitor

For gamers looking for a basic, entry-level 1440p monitor that can perform on par with displays twice its price, the ViewSonic VX2768-2KP-MHD hits those marks and more. While neither its styling nor its adjustability rate as highly as many other gaming monitors we’ve tested, this 27-inch panel’s performance and image quality is up there with some of the best, including the Razer Raptor 27 ($799). Those on the hunt for gaming extras, fancy RGB lighting, or a friendly onscreen display (OSD) menu should consider alternatives such as ViewSonic’s Elite XG270QG ($599). But if you’re on a budget and care more about gaming wins and gorgeous images than fancy frills, the VX2768-2KPMHD does a dazzling-enough job to earn an Editors’ Choice award as an affordable 1440p gaming monitor.

THE BASICS ON A BUDGET

The ViewSonic VX2768-2KP-MHD is a 27-inch monitor with WQHD (2,560-by-1,440-pixel) resolution and a 144Hz refresh rate, built around an IPS panel. The display is mounted on a small V-shaped metal stand with just one option for adjustability—tilting between -3 and 21 degrees, with no height adjustment or pivot between portrait and landscape modes. But the display is compatible with VESA mounts, and it’s relatively light at just 11.5 pounds.

The monitor would probably be a better match for a wall mount or a more flexible desk mount than the bare-bones supplied stand. The included option is sturdy enough to serve its purpose, though, as long as you aren’t craning your neck down to look at it.
