National champion Connor Swift secures overall series title
Graham Briggs and Anna Henderson clinched victories in the men’s and women’s Ryedale Grand Prix in North Yorkshire on Sunday as the national road series reached a dramatic — and wet — conclusion.
JLT-Condor rider Briggs sprinted to victory in the men’s race at the end of a gruelling 94 miles, while third spot for Connor Swift (Madison-Genesis) was enough for him to take the overall Grand Prix Series to add to his National Championship crown.
“I relish these conditions, it’s where the hard men come to the front,” said Briggs, who edged ahead of Max Stedman (Canyon- Eisberg) in second while Swift was third. “When I woke up this morning and saw the rain I was rubbing my hands together!”
For his part, series winner Connor Swift was happy enough with his day too: “I’m pleased to win the series, we’ve been consistent in every round and we’ve all done well to win the team standings too.
