Having set herself three extremely ambitious targets, CW’s Michelle Arthurs-Brennan has had a testing season of relentless racing

There was a time, midway through the season, when I fostered a deep-seated fear of writing this final update. I’d set three objectives, and when I failed the first — coming fifth at the regional championships — the whole plot seemed to be unravelling.

My second goal was a top-10 in a Women’s Team Series race. I could only make the start line for three of the six events, and when I crossed the line in eighth at the Oakley round, my first reaction was relief. I then went on holiday for two weeks, where I desperately tried not to let photos of races at home set off a chain of irreversible FOMO [fear of missing out].
