KIERAN McGrath is back to playing after a prolonged period out injured, and the young Hoops striker has enthusiastically hit the ground running upon his return with a brace in his first start for Tommy McIntyre’s reserves.
Having missed so much football last year, McGrath is making up for lost time with a loan spell at East Kilbride while still training and playing with the Celtic reserve side.
The clock is ticking for the 19-year-old as he nears the end of his current contract, but McGrath isn’t going to waste a second as he makes his case for a new deal with the Hoops.
YOU WERE IN THE TEAM FOR THE RECENT 4-1 WIN OVER CLYDE IN THE GLASGOW CUP. HOW WAS THE GAME?
It was an excellent result. It was good to get two goals but the most important thing was coming away with the win that we wanted. That game was actually my first start for the reserves. I found out on the night of the game that I would be starting. I was excited and, obviously, the nerves kicked in. It’s pressure but it’s good pressure and I enjoy playing in that environment. That game won’t define my season but if I can put myself in the best possible position then I’ll stand myself in good stead.
YOU WERE OUT FOR A LONG PERIOD WITH AN INJURY, SO HOW HAS THE RETURN TO PLAYING BEEN FOR YOU?
