Kirsty McLaughlin is loving life at Celtic and is hoping to help the Hoops enjoy a successful season.

AFTER helping Motherwell gain promotion to the top tier of women’s football in Scotland, Kirsty McLaughlin considered calling it a day in terms of playing competitive football.

However, when Eddie Wolecki Black asked the 31-year-old if she would like to play for Celtic, McLaughlin didn’t need long to reconsider.

The midfielder is savouring every moment of her time playing for the Hoops, and even scored her first goal for the club in the 7-0 SWPL Cup win over Dundee United on Sunday.

And speaking to the Celtic View, she explained that she believes the team are making huge strides forward in their pursuit of UEFA Champions League football.

How has the start to the season been?

On a personal note, it’s been a good start to the season for me. I play in the centre of midfield and I’ve started all three games. We’re still in the early stages of the season so hopefully, in the latter stages, we’ll be able to take something from those games. We’re disappointed to lose a game, like we did against Hibs, but there are plenty of positives we can take from the season so far. I wasn’t here last season but Hibs beat Celtic 9-0 in one game, so to go from that to a narrow 2-1 loss is a massive improvement. We’re certainly going in the right direction, so we continue and hopefully can take something from them in the next game.
