Bayo is working hard to push himself in the starting XI, and he’s pleased with the progress he’s making

The Waiting Game

OPPORTUNITIES can be fleeting at the top and Vakoun Bayo has been working hard to make the most of them this season.

The Ivorian striker wants to play as much as possible and, while the majority of his appearances in the Hoops to date have been as a substitute, he is pleased by the steady progress he has made and knows patience will be key to more opportunities.

The strength in depth of the current Hoops squad has been a prominent point of discussion this season, with a total of 11 new players joining in the summer.

The competition for places has heightened the already impressive performances of a Treble Treble-winning side. Every Celtic player has to work hard in order to merit a place in the starting XI, and that requires patience, along with hard work, consistency and ensuring positive results.

This template has paved the way for players like Ryan Christie and Odsonne Edouard to cement their places in the team. Both had to bide their time and work hard behind the scenes, and Bayo is using the same template of success for his battle.

The Ivorian striker joined Celtic in January and has endured periods out through injury during that time. He is seeing progress now and is confident he will continue in an upward trajectory in the coming weeks and months.

“Odsonne is the number one striker and I know I have to work very hard if I want to play as the first striker,” Bayo told the Celtic View. “That will take time, just like it did with Odsonne. He also had to be patient to get his opportunities when he first arrived at Celtic.

“I know my time will come because I can see the progress I’ve made and that gives me great hope and confidence that I can do well for the team.
