This Was Cesar's Goal

Celtic’s number 5, Jozo Simunovic, is blessed to remember Cesar with a fairytale 67th minute winner

- Joe Donnelly
This Was Cesar's Goal

BEFORE Saturday’s serendipitous win against Kilmarnock at Paradise, Jozo Simunovic described the passing of the legendary Billy McNeill as a massive loss for the club, and said he and team-mates were determined to honour him with three points.

The 24-year-old described wearing the same No.5 as Celtic’s greatest ever captain as a huge pleasure that he’s forever thankful for.

He described Celtic’s greatest ever captain as an amazing player, an amazing person, and a massive part of the club’s illustrious history – the latter of which is best depicted by the stunning bronze statue of Billy holding aloft the European Cup at the foot of the Celtic Way.

As fate would have it, the towering Croatian scored the only goal of Saturday’s game with a powerful back-post header, reminiscent of Cesar himself.

Better still, that goal came on the 67th minute of the match.
