He is just 22 years of age. And already has 135 Test wickets along with 9 five wicket hauls to his name. South Africa’s Kagiso Rabada is on fire and an unstoppable force at present. By this age, Australian legend Glenn McGrath had not even played a Test, England’s James Anderson had only 35 wickets and West Indian Courtney Walsh had taken 16 scalps. At the rate with which Rabada is progressing, he is likely to end up as one of the greats of the game. And after his recent match-winning performance, where his scintillating 11-wicket haul helped drub the visiting Australian side in the Port Elizabeth Test, things are looking better than ever for Rabada.
Ever since he made his debut on November 5, 2015 in India, Rabada has been nothing but impressive. He has taken the third most Test wickets in the world and is only behind spinners Ravichandran Ashwin (166 at 23.04) and Nathan Lyon (131 at 28.93). The next most successful pacer in this period is Australia’s Josh Hazlewood with 103 wickets at 27.38.
