1 A poor initial move can throw the clubface out of position. Grip halfway down your driver with the shaft touching your left hip at address to check your takeaway. In a good takeaway (main photo), you will retain that connection for the first 18 inches or so.
If you over-rotate your hands and arms (inset), the shaft will separate from the hip, the face will fan open, the club will get behind you too much and you’re likely to then come over the top back into the ball.
